#10: Math Holidays

Happy Fibonacci Day!  November 23 (11-23) is Fibonacci Day.  The digits 1123 happen to be the first 4 digits of Fibonacci’s Sequence!  How might one celebrate Fibonacci day?  Maybe by doodling or eating pineapple?

November 13, 2015 (11-13-15) was Odd Day where the month, day, and last two digits of the year are 3 consecutive odd numbers.  How could you celebrate this math holiday?

How can you spend your Math Minutes this week?
  1.  When will the next odd day happen?  What about the next Fibonacci Day?  How would you celebrate these math holidays?
  2. Pi Day is  on March 14 (3/14).  Square Root Day happened on April 4, 2016 (4/4/16). Plan a Pi Day, Square Root Day, or other Math Day party.  List materials, food, etc. needed for your party and submit your plan to the EY Coordinator at your building.
  3. Post a comment about something new you learned about Fibonacci’s sequence from the links above.  When leaving comments, make sure to type in your first name only, your grade, and school (no email addresses).

  1. I learned that in the fibonacci sequence is the series of numbers where a number is the sum of 2 numbers before it. Also I learned that November 23 2058 will be the biggest fibonacci day ever because 2+3 is 5 and 3+5 is 8
