Read about the inventor of coordinate plane geometry, Rene Descartes. This video gives a musical explanation of his accomplishments. Put together a note page about him.
Print out (or have your teacher print out) this project. Plot the ordered pairs on the graph paper and reveal a spooky surprise! Take a picture of your completed drawing and send it to the EY Coordinator at your building.
Create your own coordinate plane art. Plot the points and connect them with the colored lines. Take a picture after you have practiced for at least 10 minutes.

I learned that coordinates can be used to draw and have fun, not just to say where you are. I also learned that y can go up to 700 in Hopscotch.

I never knew that x and y meant up and down and that you could do many things using them to do those things on Hopscotch.
I learned that you can use x and y to make different things on Hopscotch.
I watched the music video. It was funny and taught me about Descartes. Without him, we wouldn’t have technology(?)
What specifically did you learn about Descartes Eliot?
I learned that in hopscotch when you get a character and move it around the x and y coordinates are changing constantly
I learned that X is first and Y is second!
I like that x is first because it comes before y in the alphabet.
